This small township is home to surfers and locals who make an alternative living from running boutique hotels and shops, producing arts and crafts or working at one of the many wineries in the area. It makes a great base to explore the caves, wineries, coastal and forest attractions of the Margaret River Area.

World famous Main Break is a very consistent wave that breaks left and right, and can hold a good wave in almost any swell and conditions, including onshore winds.
There are excellent viewing platforms and grassy areas up high that afford visitors views over the break. At any time of the day surfers will be out there, riding surfboards and bodyboards; pick a spot, sit back and watch the action as set after set, the waves roll in.
Other popular surf breaks in this part of the Margaret River area include Three Bears, The Farm, Gallows, Smiths Beach and Boneyards.
