Swan Valley wines are greatly respected around the world. Only some forty minutes from the heart of Perth, the fertile alluvial soils of the Swan Valley were first put under canes by the earliest of settlers in 1833 at Olive Farm. Some thirty years later wines were commercially exported to England from the fabulous Houghton Winery site. In later times settlement by residents of mid-European origin have had an excellent influence on wine production in the Swan Valley. Magical family names of vingerons currently in the Swan Valley include; Lamont; Mann; Cabanovic; Talijancich; Pinelli and Kosovich. All give their name to the winery.
