Singleton, with a population of some 6035, lies between Mandurah and Golden Bay. Singleton was named after one of the region's very early pioneers, Francis Singleton. Singleton arrived in 1839, about nine years after another early settler, who gave his name to the local Peel River, Thomas Peel.
