Point Samson, near Cossack just north of Karratha, is a small fishing town that was once the principal port for the Roeburne district. Traffic declined in Point Samson when most of the larger mining companies set up modern shipping facilities at Dampier further south. However, a large commercial fishing fleet still operates out of the town.
