Narrikup is a small settlement of a long established and thriving farming community. In the aboriginal tongue, Narrikup means ' place of the peat swamps'. Narrikup, like its neighbouring settlements and towns, is in the Shire Of Plantagenet. There is no written explanation of why Caption James Stirling chose Plantagenet to be the region's name in 1831, a year after George IV died and some 356 years after the last Plantagenet king died at the battle of Bosworth!
