The town of Hyden lays 3km away; early settlers were searching for sandalwood but now the town is a major wheat and tourism centre.
Only settled in the 1920s, Hyden is one of the youngest towns in the central wheat belt.
In recent years, Wave Rock has brought on average more than 100 000 visitors to Hyden and a number of excellent tourist facilities have been developed including cafes and restaurants, a bakery, an 18-hole golf course and a pub with an outdoor beer garden where you can enjoy a cold one in the summer heat.
