Caves Road is a romantic country road leading from Yallingup on the Cape Naturaliste in the north to Augusta near Cape Leeuwin in the south of the westerly most tip of Australia's spectacular South West region.Whilst searching for stray horses, Edward Dawson discovered the cave in 1899. News of the new attraction soon spread in the colony and he began taking tourists through the cave in 1900. The tours were so popular that in the 1930's the Art Deco Caves House Hotel was built at Yallingup to accommodate the many visitors that would travel by horse and cart from Busselton. Caves House soon became the Honeymoon destination of choice for Western Australians.

Some three hundred and fifty caves are hidden within the limestone ridge underneath the area of Margaret River and four major caves that are open to the public; Yallingup or Ngilgis Cave, Mammoth Cave, Lake Cave and Jewel Cave. Magnificent hedgerows of wild flowers line the road in season and dolphins frolic on quiet beaches, with whales en route to their migration off shore. The Caves Road drive is peaceful and driver is never far from the ocean or an exquisite gallery, cafe or attraction.
