Cape Range National Park, between along the North West Cape to Exmouth is full of contrasts. Pass from high plateau shrub land to deep ocean within just a few kilometres. Walk through eucalypt woodlands or climb up deep rocky gorges. There is plenty of breathtaking scenery. Walk over a flat coastal plain and discover the Range's terraces, explore coastal dunes, white sand beaches and turquoise water and rocky shores or just laze in the year round sunshine. Unsealed roads and tracks make four wheel driving a necessary part of the experience.

Range to Reef


The Cape Range National Park covers 50,581ha of the land near Exmouth along the western side of the North West Cape. Cape Range is a massive limestone range that has been eroded of time; its National Park boasts spectacular ridges, gullies and deep caves that meet one of the most spectacular coastlines in Australia. This area is full of striking contrasts between the divergent environments of rugged Cape Range and Ningaloo Marine Park. Cape Range National Park offers a truly unique range to reef experience where all the diverse natural attractions of this area can be appreciated in just one day.
 

Yardie Creek Yardie Gorge


Cape Range is the only elevated limestone ridge along the north western coast of Western Australia. Visitors can travel along the Charles Knife Road exploring the Thomas Carter Lookout with its magnificent views of the chunky gorges, including amazing Shothole Canyon. Next, onto Yardie Creek and Gorge where clear water flows year-round through a pretty gorge into a small estuarine lagoon. Here, you may catch a glimpse of a cute rock wallaby as you walk along the trails that meander above the gorges vertical red rock walls. The 3km-winding walk through Mandu Mandu Gorge along an ancient riverbed is a popular attraction.
 
Flora and fauna of the Cape Range National park is prolific emus, kangaroos, euros, wallabies, bustards and many different lizards are often sighted. The Bird Hide overlooking the waters is exquisite and is well documented with the birds that can be expected to be sighted. Care taken to move quietly when crossing the bridge over stream to the hide may be rewarded with a very upclose view of a sleeping kangaroo or two in the shade of the mangroves edging the water.
 
Under the scarp of Cape Range is a series of interconnected caves that are home to a diverse range of wildlife. From there, it is only a hop, skip and a jump to the underwater paradise that is Ningaloo Reef.
