Baldivis History

A government housing scheme was established in the region to help the unemployed during the early 1920s. The early settlers who were attracted by the scheme decided on a name for the area. Baldivis was derived from the names of three ships which travelled to Western Australia in 1922. They were the Balranald, Diogenes and the Jervis Bay. Interestingly, they all arrived within 6 weeks of each other and were built both in the same year and by the same shipyard.
