DAY 1 Broome – Derby
• Head into the Kimberley landscape, crossing the mighty Fitzroy River, which rises 17m during the wet season.
• En route stop off at the Prison Boab Tree.
• Explore the ‘cowboy’ town that is the centre of the West Kimberley cattle country. Derby is home to the Royal Flying Doctor service, perhaps call in and take a tour. Derby also has one of the highest rise and falls of the tide in the world.

DAY 2 Derby – Fitzroy Crossing
• Drive deeper into the Kimberley along the highway that connects Western Australia and the Northern Territory, passing Boab Trees, Pandanus Palms as you drive through the heart of Cattle Country.
• Fitzroy Crossing is located on the river bank just out of reach of major flood waters, the old town began where there was a suitable place to ford the river, before the bridge was built. This remote community is now home to just 2000 people.
• Relax into Kimberley life and wander around discovering the “Crossing”. Get your camera ready to capture a spectacular Kimberley sunset.

DAY 3 Explore Geikie Gorge
• Geikie Gorge National Park is 20 minutes from Fitzroy Crossing. The forest fringing the river includes cadjeput, river gums, freshwater mangroves, native figs and pandanus palms. The tropical reed forms dense stands on the banks, while wild passionfruit scrambles over trees and shrubs.
• Many tropical aquatic life forms live in the waters of the Fitzroy River. The striped archer fish shoots down insects in flight or from foliage overhanging the river by squirting a thin jet of water. Freshwater crocodiles bask on the riverbanks.
• There are very good interpretive facilities at the park, including a ‘Reef Walk” and short ‘River Walk’, a rangerrun boat tour, and also an aboriginal cultural cruise through the gorge’s 30m steep walls. The traditional owners, the Bunaba people, call the gorge Darngku. It has very special aboriginal significance. (Note the park has limited access and facilities during the wet season Dec-Mar due to flooding).

DAY 4 Fitzroy Crossing - Broome
• Today head back towards Broome. Arrive back in time for a well-deserved swim on Cable Beach.
