Day 1 Broome-Derby-Windjana Gorge

Heading north to Derby, stop at the boab prison tree and have a look around the town and wharf area and then head on along the Gibb River Road to Windjana Gorge.

Explore the 750 metre long limestone tunnel called Tunnel Creek that has been carved into the rock over thousands of years, view stalacmites and listen to stories of indigenous leader Jandamarra who used the tunnel as a hideout.

Walk through Windjana Gorge before sunset and perhaps see fresh water crocodiles lazing around on the river banks.

Day 2 Windjana Gorge-Manning Gorge

Make your way through the Napier and King Leopold ranges to the picturesque Bell Gorge, spend the afternoon swimming and exploring Adcock and Manning Gorges.

Enjoy watching the sun set in the background of the crimson sky.

Day 3 Manning Gorge-Barnett River Gorge-Miners Pool

Visit the picturesque Galvans Gorge surrounded by boab trees, hike into Barnett River Gorge for a swim and the opportunity for bird watching.

  • Enjoy luch at Drysdale River Station and then head on to Miners Pool for more adventure and discovery.

    Day 4 Miners Pool-Kalumburu

    On your way to see the Kalumburu Indigenous community stop for lunch on the banks of the Carson River.

    Spend the afternoon fishing, bushwalking or simply enjoy the scenery and solitude.

    Day 5 Explore Kalumburu

    Explore Kalumburu with a local indigenous guide, visit the Old Pago ruins and some WWII wrecks, which are close by.

    Your indigenous guide will take you to several rock art sites, teach you about the indigenous way of life, culture, bush skills and bush tuckers.

    Visit the museum for an informative talk and you may have the opportunity to buy original indigenous art direct from the community and artists.

    Day 6 Kalumburu -King Edward River

    Head down to King Edward River, view the two unique art sites of Bradshaw and Wandjana figures.

    Overnight: King Edward River Accommodation.

    Day 7 King Edward River-Mitchell Falls area-King Edward River

    Spend the day swimming and exploring in the Mitchell Falls area, on your way there visit Little and Big Mertens and delve into some bush tuckers and medicines.

    Be astounded by the three-tiered waterfall cascading over the plateaus edge and into the Mitchell River.

    Get a birds eye view of the area as you take short helicopter ride back to your accommodation.

    Overnight: King Edward River Accommodation

    Day 8 King Edward River-El Questro Wilderness Park

    Heading south, stop alongside the banks of the Gibb River to view an art site.

    View the cuples, which are man made rock indentations and stop to view the mighty Pentecost River and Cockburn Ranges.

    Day 9 Explore El Questro Wilderness Park

    Start your morning with a trip to Zebedee Springs for a relaxing dip in the thermal pools, set amongst palm trees.

    For your afternoon cruise through Chamberlain Gorge, viewing the scenery and rock art sites.

    Overnight: El Questro Wilderness Park Campground

    Day 10 El Questro Wilderness Park-Wyndham-Turkey Creek -Bungle Bungles

    Drive to Wyndham and take in the sensational views of the 5 rivers lookout and the Cambridge Gulf.

    Stop at Parrys Lagoon, a haven for birdlife, before you head south to Turkey Creek and then onto the Bungle Bungles.

    Get a real sense of off-road adventure, as the section of road into the Bungles from the highway is quite challenging.

    Day 11 Explore Bungle Bungles

    If you choose to, take an optional helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles Range (own expense), then walk into Cathedral Gorge and on your way back take the Domes trail walk”.

    Spend your afternoon in Echidna Chasm, a narrow gorge of conglomerate rock, passing endemic livistonia palms.

    Overnight: Bungle Bungles campground

    Day 12 Bungle Bungles-Kununurra.

    Look around the Warringari Art Centre and Kellys Knob lookout and then move on to see Australias largest man- made lake, covering 1000sq km; Lake Argyle.

    At Keep River National Park, walk through the rock formations as the sun sets.

    Overnight: Keep River National Park Accommodation

    Day 13 Kununurra-Katherine-Darwin

    Travel through Timber Creek and Gregory National Park,have lunch on the banks of the Victoria River.

    Continuing east stop at the township of Katherine and, after a short break, head north towards Darwin.
