Australian Surf Life Saving Championships 2008

Perth 2008

Perth is proud to once again host the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships and looks forward to welcoming visitors to our beautiful state for this prestigious event.

In keeping with making the competition bigger and better than ever before, Surf Life Saving Australia has worked with the City of Stirling and local businesses to create a more festive and exciting atmosphere in Scarborough, especially at the conclusion of events each day.

There is no better beach for staging the Aussies than Scarborough Beach- home to world class spectator facilities such as a purpose built, multi-seat amphitheatre. Throw in some challenging conditions and it will be an exciting event for competitors and enthusiasts alike.

Famous for family BBQ's and the great Aussie game of beach cricket, Scarborough's large grassy areas, wide stretches of sand and stunning Indian Ocean make it the perfect place to spend a hot summers day.

By day Scarborough Beach will be buzzing with activity, but after the sun goes down, head into town to experience some exciting nightlife. The City of Perth, Northbridge, Subiaco, Leederville, Claremont and Fremantle are popular restaurant and bar precincts to enjoy a few drinks and mix with the locals.

Visitors to Perth are amazed by the beautiful pristine beaches and the dazzling Indian Ocean sunsets. This is only a small taste of what Perth has to offer, including cosmopolitan caf é strips, excellent shopping, outdoor entertainment, wonderful natural attractions and an array of family friendly things to see and do.

With an endless variety of attractions and experiences, your hardest decision will be what to do next and how to fit it all in. From day trips to the world class wineries in the Swan Valley, to swimming with the dolphins in Rockingham to sand-boarding in Lancelin, you will be spoilt for choice during your visit to Perth.

And don't forget to enjoy many mouth-watering gourmet meals and glasses of award-winning Western Australian wine and boutique beer that Perth has to offer - You won't be disappointed!
