The Indian Pacific connects the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean on one of the world's longest and greatest train journeys.

Your "cruise" aboard the Indian Pacific "liner" will be across the vast continent of Australia; from the spectacular Blue Mountains to the treeless plains of The Nullarbor, where the train travels the world's longest straight stretch of railway track (478 kilometres), you will see unique landscapes unfold and spot a fascinating array of wildlife from the comfort of the lounge or your cabin.

The Indian Pacific journey from Sydney to Perth covers 4352kms and in either direction you'll have three nights aboard the great train. There are many things to see along the way as you cross this vast continent. And you can get up close and see many of them when you enjoy an optional off-train sightseeing tour. The great train offers these tours during scheduled stops at Broken Hill, Adelaide and gold rich Kalgoorlie. A remote outpost on the Nullarbor Plain called Cook, population 2, presents a further opportunity to stretch your legs.

All along the Indian Pacific route, keep your eyes peeled for a sighting of the magnificent Australian wedge tailed eagle, the symbol of this great train. It's massive wingspan of up to two metres will make it easy to spot in a clear desert sky.

Passengers from Melbourne travel on The Overlander to Adelaide, where they join the Sydney and Adelaide passengers for the most exciting and adventurous part of the unique Indian Pacific journey.

Gold Kangaroo Accommodation

Sleeper Cabin

Choose from an elegant twin or single sleeper cabin. Indian Pacific Gold Kangaroo Twin Cabins have a comfortable three seater lounge which converts to upper and lower sleeping berths at night plus a private ensuite bathroom with toilet, wash basin and shower. Cabins are fully serviced by your own steward with fresh sheets, pillows and doonas. Cabins feature 3 pin 240 volt power points, wardrobes, full length mirror, reading lamps and foldaway table.

Single Cabins have similar features to the Twin Cabin with the exception pf shower and toilet facilities which are located at the end of each carriage. Complimentary welcome kits, toiletries bags and bath towels are located in all Gold Kangaroo Service cabins.

Guests travelling in Gold Kangaroo Twin Cabins may take on board one suitcase (up to 20kg), garment bag, cabin bag and briefcase (any more luggage than this is discouraged due to reduced cabin space). Guests are permitted a maximum of 40kg free of charge in the Luggage Car. Please note, 'checked-in' luggage cannot be accessed during the journey

Dining in Gold Kangaroo Service aboard the Indian Pacific is in the beautifully decorated and discreetly luxurious Queen Adelaide Restaurant Car. All meals are included in the Gold Kangaroo Service fare. The enjoyment of fine food and wine whilst travelling in a world famous train with panoramic views across a vast, beautiful continent is an unrivalled experience.

Sample the superb a la carte menus served by your friendly waiter to your table. The ever changing menus will often feature native Australian cuisine, cooked to perfection by our own dedicated chefs. Excellent wines and beverages are available for purchase to complement your meal. Vegetarian, children's and some special dietary meals can be accommodated - please request these when you make your booking. Please note that breakfast packs will be delivered to cabins on some Indian Pacific services to cater for early morning destination arrivals and off-train tour requirements.

Gold Kangaroo Lounge

The spacious Gold Kangaroo Lounge adjoins the sleeper carriages and is often the centre of activity for any journey. The cosy club-like setting is an excellent place to socialise or to sit back and enjoy the passing parade of Australian landscapes. The Lounge has a bar and separate smoking and non smoking areas.

This is the ideal place to gather for a drink before dinner or for a game of cards and a nightcap with new friends.

Red Kangaroo Service

Red Kangaroo Accommodation

Red Kangaroo Sleeper Cabin

Indian pacific Red Kangaroo Service offers comfortable, air conditioned twin share sleeping accommodation to suit your holiday budget. By day, your Sleeper Cabin features two facing lounge chairs that afford splendid views of the outback through a panoramic window. At night, the chairs convert to upper and lower sleeping berths with crisp clean sheets, pillows and doonas.

These cabins feature private washing facilities including towels; toilet and shower facilities are located at the end of each carriage. For your convenience there is a wardrobe, vanity mirror, 3 pin/ 240 volt power points, reading lamp and a foldaway table.

Guests travelling in Red Kangaroo Service can enjoy the comfortable facilities of the Red Kangaroo Lounge and Diner. Guests travelling alone may be required to share a Red Kangaroo Sleeper Cabin.

 Red Kangaroo Daynighter Seat

Travelling on a budget does not have to mean cramping your style. Indian Pacific Red Kangaroo Daynighter Seating is in comfortable two abreast reclining arm chairs upholstered in woollen cloth trim. Features include generous leg room, individual reading lights and video entertainment and you can swivel seats around to face each other for a bit of socialising.

Toilet and shower facilities are located at the end of each carriage. Towels and soap are provided for all guests. Guests will need to supply their own rug and pillow.

Daynighter Seat guests can enjoy the facilities of the Red Kangaroo Diner, Buffet and Lounge (neat casual dress codes apply).

Red Kangaroo Diner and Buffet

Indian Pacific Red Kangaroo Service features a bright, cheery Diner and Buffet Car where affordable, tasty light meals and snacks may be purchased. Limited special dietary light meals are available on request (advise at time of booking). The Diner is fully licensed and smoking is not permitted.

Snacks and light meals are also available for purchase throughout the day from the licensed Buffet Car. A dedicated smokers capsule is available for Red Kangaroo Service guests and this is located adjacent to the Daynighter Seat section of the train.

Red Kangaroo Lounge

Guests travelling in Indian Pacific Red Kangaroo Sleeper Cabin and Daynighter Seat can enjoy the Red Kangaroo Lounge (dress codes apply). Beverages are available for purchase from the Lounge; sit back and relax over a quiet drink whilst enjoying views of the passing scenery. Video games and entertainment are available in the Red Kangaroo Lounge. Smoking is not permitted in the Lounge - a separate smokers capsule is provided adjacent to the Daynighter Seat section of the train.
